Hey Dream Drivers,
I’m starting a blog on the site because I get alot of questions about how I started the show, equipment I use, and more!
Today’s blog will answer a very simple question:
What kind of mic do you use to record your interviews and shows?
Here’s the thing, I have a very SIMPLE setup! You don’t have to get very technical and fancy especially when you’re just starting out!
Here’s what I use:
Audiotechnica ATR 2100 USB mic
Why did I choose this mic?
#1 – It’s easy to use. Because it’s a USB mic, all I need is a computer to plug it into and voila! I can record wherever I am!
#2 – John Lee Dumas (one of the OGs of How to Podcasts courses) recommended it
#3 – It is affordable and has GREAT sound quality. A lot of top podcasters use this mic as well and have ZERO complaints.
#4 – It’s not bulky and can be easily transported. (Make sure you get a case though!)
Here’s the complete list of all the equipment I use to record my podcast:
Audiotechnica ATR 2100 USB mic
Sony Lightweight headphones (Headphones with decent sound quality for editing is a must!)
Here are some of my other favorite podcasting tools:
Garageband (for editing)
Auphonic – sound mixing in post-production. It helps to level out sounds as well as diminish background noises/hisses/hums.
Skype eCamm Call Recorder – This is what I use for recording all of my interviews. It records Skype call or video conversations and then allows you to split the track for editing purposes. It is a complete life saver!
Libsyn – This is the hosting service I use and absolutely love! I switched over from Soundcloud in December 2016 and haven’t looked back. If you are just starting out and want to get two months FREE of Libsyn service – please use the code DID.
Note: If you sign up on any day other than the 1st of the month, you’ll get the entire month and NEXT month free!
